Fear
In the rainforests of Costa Rica, we saw a venemous fer-de-lance snake, watching us on a night hike as we studied nocturnal animals. Does this mean that we should not go into the rainforest at night? Some people think so. Some people think we’re nuts. Who could blame them? We live in an uncertain world where there is so much danger. In the last several months, many people were killed in Bali and in Kenya by a group of people who hate. And with all this hate and fear, we still travel all over the world visiting so many cultures and putting ourselves at risk of possibly being the next victim of a terrorist attack, or possibly being a victim of a venomous snake.

So, what is our take away? Should we be afraid or should we be cautious? We have decided that as a family we should not live in fear. We do understand that the world is not as stable as we would like it to be, however, we believe that if we are aware of our surroundings we will have a very good chance of sensing and avoiding danger.  Living in fear and being paralized by it is not an option for us.
